A Closer Look at Millboard: Redefining Composite Decking & Cladding

Selecting exterior materials is no longer simply a question of appearance. Long-term performance, maintenance requirements, sustainability, and installation all influence specification decisions.

For this reason, Terrain Collective partners with manufacturers that offer technically advanced products backed by proven performance. Millboard is one of those manufacturers.

Working directly with architects, landscape designers, contractors, and homeowners, we provide product expertise, samples, specification support, and installation guidance across the complete Millboard range.

BEYOND TRADITIONAL COMPOSITE.

Millboard is often categorised as composite decking, although its construction differs significantly from conventional wood-plastic composites.

Rather than combining timber fibres with PVC or recycled plastics, Millboard is manufactured using a proprietary blend of mineral fillers and flexible polyurethane resin. The boards contain no timber and no PVC, eliminating many of the performance limitations associated with traditional composite products.

Because there are no wood fibres to absorb moisture, Millboard will not rot, warp, or swell, making it suitable for demanding exterior environments and climates with significant seasonal variation. The result is a highly durable material engineered for decades of performance with minimal maintenance.

THE LOOK AND FEEL OF REAL TIMBER — WITHOUT THE DOWNSIDES.

Every Millboard profile is moulded from genuine hand-selected timber boards, accurately reproducing natural grain, knots, and surface texture down to the finest detail.

Unlike traditional timber, however, Millboard requires no sanding, staining, or sealing throughout its service life. There is no risk of splintering, and the boards maintain their dimensional stability without the movement commonly associated with natural wood.

The result is an exterior material that captures the warmth and character of real timber while eliminating many of the ongoing maintenance requirements that come with it.

LASTANE® SURFACE TECHNOLOGY.

One of Millboard's defining innovations is its proprietary Lastane® surface technology. Rather than relying on paints or applied coatings, UV-stable pigments are integrated directly into the flexible Lastane® surface during manufacture. Because the finish forms part of the board itself, it will not peel, crack, or delaminate over time.

Combined with excellent resistance to scratching, staining, and everyday surface wear, Lastane® helps Millboard retain its colour and finish even after years of exposure to the elements, allowing decking and cladding to maintain the appearance of a newly installed product for far longer than many conventional alternatives.

DECKING, CLADDING & ARCHITECTURAL APPLICATIONS.

Millboard extends well beyond decking. The collection includes decking, cladding, fascia boards, soffits, and complementary accessories, allowing designers to specify a consistent material palette across multiple architectural elements.

Whether incorporated into contemporary residential projects, commercial developments, or hospitality environments, Millboard pairs naturally with materials such as natural stone, concrete, steel, and glass. Its concealed fixing system, dimensional consistency, and low maintenance requirements make it an ideal specification for projects where both long-term performance and refined aesthetics are equally important.

BRITISH CRAFTSMANSHIP, NATURAL STONE.

Allgreen sources high-quality natural stone from carefully selected quarries, including Egyptian limestone, before precision processing each piece using British engineering and manufacturing techniques. The result is a product that combines the authenticity of natural stone with the dimensional accuracy required for modern landscape construction. Every piece retains the unique fossils, veining, and tonal variation found only in natural stone, meaning no two installations are exactly alike.
